Verizon’s $350 Termination Fee: Are They Aware of The Recession?

November 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Verizon has recently unveiled their new termination out fees for their services, doubling from the former fee of $175 to the rent-money value of $350. The reasoning that the company put out to the media was that due to the increased costs of the cell phones themselves, the fee is justified.

Although many of the new phones are expensive, there are some cheapie phones that are also under this new termination fee contract. Anyone who had the Verizon service before November 14th would be safe. Verizon was already in hot water with a civil action lawsuit in California; I do wonder if someone might take on this new plan.

Although there could be merit with their decision, this will not bode well publicly, especially now that they are trying to push out the new Androids. Maybe if they can tell people that the Google apps for this phone will be free, and that will even out the bad news about the fees.

If you are someone that wants to skip termination fees altogether, try cell-phone swapping. You can swap your contract or give it to someone else who is looking for a contract. It is very easy, and you will avoid the termination fees. Visit Getoutofyourplan – The Cell Swapping Directory for more information.
